Udaipur

Hi!

Again to reiterate my point on fancy hotels, I feel extremely out of place, and even if that wasn’t the problem they are noisy. This one seemed to be even more noisier then anyone I have ever stayed in. They played music so loud that it seemed to be coming through our room. And it wasn’t even good music it was thumping so loud that it gave me a headache and I was just trying to sleep! But that’s fine. Breakfast made up for it.

Breakfast was a giant buffet, with breads and all sorts of different Indian breakfast items, they had cereal and fruit and juice. It was all very good! And it somewhat made up for the loud obnoxious noises coming from outside. Granted the music was for a wedding. Just a very loud music.

We then went to see another Jane temple. This one was bigger though and much more grand then the last one. Still looking the same just bigger. I have to say they are quite beautiful, with the marble carvings in the pillars and the grand ceiling designs. But I can’t spend more then 45 mins tops in temples I just get bored. And recently I’ve started getting these weird headaches which I think are from the incense the burn in the temples.

After exploring the temple and the gardens surrounding it we were on our way to Udaipur. The lake city. Which is correct because there is a giant lake in the middle of it. I have to say this is the first larger lake I’ve seen in India, and the water is absolutely stunning! The hotel we are staying in, not so much, but it’s not the worst. It will do we have a bed, and a shower that (hopefully) works.

After checking into our hotel we headed out to explore the city. We went to a dock, and walked around what are supposed to be shopping areas, but there isn’t anything I would be interested in buying. Unless I wanted to try and truck home a tractor wagon. However it is interesting to see. We finally found a spot for dinner, considering it was around 5:30 at this point, and we hadn’t eaten any lunch. The food was normal and the service was good.

We then had a split second decision to go to a puppet and folk dance show. It was splendid. Just fantastic, I don’t even know how to explain it. The women were dressed in beautiful saris that were bright and sparkly, and they would dance with fire and bells and bowls on their head, and make music. There was a man who did puppets, and let me tell you, he was good! He definitely knew what he was doing. It’s really hard to explain something you just need to see for yourself. So if you ever make your way to Udaipur India be sure to check it out.

Finally after everything we headed to the hotel, longing for some sleep and separation from the crowds.
