Tea Tea Tea

Hey hey hey!

We started off our day by having some traditional Indian breakfast of dosa (a pancake type thing make out of rice and lentils) and sauce that eat with the dosa that had potatoes and vegetables in it. Along with that we had bread and fruit. It was actually surprisingly good, not normally what you would think to eat for breakfast but I enjoyed it.

After that we were on our way. Our first stop was a tea plantation, where they explained how they grow and then process their tea. It basically goes through five steps, picking, crushing, drying, sifting, sorting, and packaging. Or something to that effect. However because of the strike the machines weren’t running, but that’s ok. The tour was actually very informative and interesting. They were sure to remind us over and over again that the tea doesn’t have any chemicals or preservatives, and that it’s purely tea. The tour guide also said that some of the bigger companies will import India’s tea and place a different label on it, to make it their own. Who knows if that’s true thought! The inside of the plant and seeing how it was made was actually something I found very cool, unfortunately though I couldn’t take pictures inside the plant so you’ll just have to take my word for it.

Then we went to see a dam, but because of the strike it was not being run and maintained at least for these two days. But we drove over it so I guess that counts for something! Following this we went to echo point, but along the way there was a bunch of traffics, so we pulled over, and what do you know a little up the road there was an elephant. But it was actually really said because it had traveled down the mountain across the road, and the mom was sitting there waiting and had been for two days for the baby. But the baby didn’t make it. The didn’t give details but I assume it dies trying to cross the road....so that’s sad :((       but cool to see before I knew that.

Following that we went to a place that supposedly you could hear your echo from across the lake, but because of the strike this was also closed. So that was a bummer, but we bought some almonds and more chocolate so that was a plus! We then went to lunch at a hotel sort of place and it was good actually better then I thought it would be considering the waiter barely wanted to take our order. He asked dad what he wanted and then left, and we were all like wait but it was too late he had disappeared into the kitchen. And so when he came out my mom called him over, and I ordered and then he started to leave again and we are were like wait Riley and mom have to order. It was really funny how much of a hurry he was in, but whatever, we got all our food at least!

Then we went to get a massage! It was soooooo relaxing and very good, they used oil so my body was a little greasy but it was worth it! After that we went back to the hotel and soon enough it was time for dinner, and then bed! A busy day and an even busier tomorrow, our time is becoming shorter and shorter everyday! I’m not ready to go back to school yet, and leave this beautiful country!
