Chocolate!

Today we were going to go to Olyantombo, but ended up changing our plans due to weather. Our parents surprised us by making reservations to a chocolate museum, which has a hands on activity to do with chocolate.

We made the reservation for 1:30, and headed out to look around the town. First we went to a shopping/food street and walked around there for about 30 minutes. By that time we were all starving, so we headed to lunch. We all felt like having something fast and easy, but ended up not being so fast and easy.

We went to McDonald's, which we decided was a very bad choice after we got there. We ordered a cheeseburger, 2 fries, a drink, and a salad. After we ordered we sat around for about 25 minutes waiting for our food to come. We watched people who were way behind us in the line grabbing there food. One couple was just waiting for 2 coffees and ended up getting the bottom of the pot coffee, they said it wasn't even warm.

Once seated finally with our food, we started to eat. As my dad dug into his salad he saw that the salad leaves were brown and extreamly old. My cheeseburger was absolutely disgusting, it was cold and the cheese on the side looked like it was a day old at least. It was an awful experience at McDonald's.

After lunch we headed back to the chocolate place for our chocolate making. We stared off by making cocoa beans into a cocoa powder, then we poured it into a pot and make a drink, which was basically hot chocolate. It was ok, we put chile powder into it which made it spicy. The second drink was better because we added sugar. After the drinks we chose several different ingredients we wanted to put into our chocolate. I chose sea salt, Oreos, M&M's, sprinkles, and quinoa (which sounds weird but actually made the chocolate crunchy it was good).

After chosing our ingredients we mashed them up so that it made a powder, to put into the chocolate molds. The mold I chose was pyramids, and in the end I think that was a wise decision. We chose between milk and dark chocolate, and got to work.

After we finished, we had to wait 50 minutes before picking our chocolates up. So we headed to Starbucks to escape the downpour of rain. We were at Starbucks for about an hour and a half, then went to pick up our chocolates and head to dinner. For dinner we went to the same place that we have been going to for a long long time. This was our third time going there. We went to a doner that servers gyros, it was very good.

After dinner we were all extremely tired so we headed to bed. Tomorrow to Ecuador!

Miss you all,
T
