For the experience!
Day 4:
Update #1: We started with, you guessed it, breakfast!! The same breakfast we continue to have (with multiple small changes throughout the days which is nice!)
Update #2: Out first stop for the day was to the spice markets. Which essentially had the same things we have previously seen at the similar stores; turkish delight, spices, menthol, tea, etc. The same amount of hassling was found within this market as well. This time however I got many different personal remarks such as “come come! we need an angel in here” or “excuse me queen, queen of the bazaar.” Flattery is a very interesting marketing strategy if you ask me. However, I suppose it may work on some!
Update #3: We left the spice market unscathed (i.e. without damages to our wallet). However, we walked around the spice market and found a ton of different market streets. We ended up exploring and did not come out of these markets quite unscathed. There were clothes and shoes and jewelry and socks and underwear and so much more! Riley was even looking at jewelry!! I am not sure if she was feeling quite well. In the end it was definitely cheaper then a shopping trip in the US.
Update #4: Out next stop was lunch. Since we were so near to the ocean we needed to try the seafood. However, looking back on it i’m not sure that anyone enjoyed. However as my mom would say it was “for the experience!” It was a little sandwich shop on the water. The food itself was cooked on a boat in the water, which seemed quite difficult if you ask me. There was only one thing at the restaurant, fish sandwich’s. All in all it wasn’t horrible, but it needed some sauce and there were way to many bones in it! Definitely wouldn’t do it again but it was “for the experience!”
Update #5: Out next shopping trip was found a little further away then our previous adventures, and required us to travel across the sea. We took a ferry and headed that way! On the other side we found some cool markets as well as some gelato which riley was very keen to get! So we stopped to get some gelato before continuing our journey. We stopped at many clothing shops as well as shoe stores and jewelry stores. After a while everyone was slowly getting tired and sore about everywhere. So we preceded to make our way back to the pier to get on the ferry back home.
Update #6: Looking over the edge of the ferry you can see hundreds of little jelly fish just floating at the surface of the water! They were beautiful! I felt kind of bad like we weredisturbing their peaceful water.
Update #7: We finally made it back to the hotel and everyone is pretty exhausted and ready to go to the beach in a couple of days. But for now we are taking a quick rest and headed back out to get some dinner.
Update #8: We found this beautiful little restaurant off the beaten path that had a view of the ocean. The food was delicious, and the view was equally as amazing! Definitely better then our lunch this afternoon! Today was our final day in Istanbul, tomorrow we are headed to Ephesus for a night!
