Clogging and Blogging

Day 6: 

Update #1: After a very uncomfortable sleep last night because the bed was basically a brick we awoke and got ready for our day. Our first stop is breakfast downstairs! So we rapidly tried to pack all of our things up for a 10 o’clock check out and make it down in a reasonable time! After breakfast we are headed to see a castle. 

Update #2: At the top of the hill behind our house there is a castle and that castle also has a ruined church. At the top of this hill is supposedly the burrial place of John the author of Revelation. It is said that after fleeing Ephesus he arrived at Patmos where he stayed for a while before returning to Ephesus where he died and was buried. However, in the end there is really no way of knowing. So we walked around these very quiet ruins for a while. Within these ruins though we did see a very magical sight. Two turtles! Truly amazing creatures, and quite honestly faster than one would expect after hearing the story of the tortoise and the hare. But unfortunately my mom was very against me taking one home (which makes sense in all reality since she wouldn’t even let me get a fish!) 

Update #3: We just left the hotel and are driving now to Fethiye where we will be staying at an island home for 4 nights! Enjoy some pictures of patricia sleeping with her half broken glasses!

Update #4: We have now arrived at our island home after some issues getting onto the island itself. The most difficult part was discussing with the guards on where to park the car and figuring out how to get from the parked car to the boat to the island. Then we found out that the boat might not be able to come at all because the winds were too strong. The owners of the property made some calls and thankfully they were able to come. The wind was so strong that the boat itself was almost beached when trying to pick us up.

Update #5: Upon barely arriving alive at the hotel two of us used the bathroom without reading the signage on the wall that clearly stated the use of toilet paper in the toilet was not accepted. And that in fact the toilet itself wouldn’t flush with toilet paper in it due to the piping system. However, since there had been two (will continue to go unnamed for privacy) of us that had already gone without reading it there was no hope. And so that is the story of the clogged toilet within 10 minutes of arrival. (Update 4 hours later we are still doing our best to get the toilet fully unclogged). 

Update #6: We are now making dinner after doing some swimming and relaxing. This place is definitely my favorite so far and the views are amazing! Tomorrow we are doing some exploring at nearby beaches and potentially visiting some towns :))
