Claustrophobia

Update #1: We started out our day with the usual, a nice breakfast overlooking beautiful Cappadocia. We begun finalizing our plans for the day and soon headed out.

Update #2: Our first stop today is a hike through a beautiful valley. This hike was a lot better then the hike yesterday thankfully. Along the route we saw a lot of different little churches in the stone along our path. We also got to experience the beautiful scenery with vibrant red poppies and the river next to us. All in all the hike was very fun! Riley even got in some light rock climbing.

Update #3: We then drove about an hour in the other direction headed back closer to home to stop by an underground city. I slept the whole way there.

Update #4: Initally when I thought of an underground city I thought it was going to be a lot more spacious however when arriving inside I realized the exact opposite. My heart started racing and I found it extremely difficult to breathe as we climbed down into the very tight small tunnels. The only other time I had experienced claustrophobia like this was when I was in Vietnam in the tunnels. But this one was worse. At least in Vietnam I was able to escape quickly, whereas here I was trapped in a never ending rock maze. I swear we were in there for at least two hours but ultimately we were there for about 30 min. Due to this inconvenience that is claustrophobia I was only able to capture one picture of this amazing underground world. Looking back at it it is a lot cooler now then it was in the moment. There were up to 20 different levels in some areas of the city, and this city was said to have housed about 20,000 people. Imagine how dark it was! Ultimately was it cool? Yes! Would I do it again however? No

Update #5: Our next stop lunch! We stopped at this little hamburger place that Riley picked and enjoyed a cheap lunch off the main drag. Prices here ranges from 20-50 TL (roughly 1-4$). Whereas right up the street the prices ranged from 120-750 TL (roughly 8-50$). So all in all I feel like we found a great place!

Update #6: We we’re going to make another trip out tonight to see some fairy houses (that is what they are called) and mushroom shaped rocks. However, everyone is pretty exhausted. Our days have been pretty heavily packed and everyone is slowly feeling the effects of this. Tonight I think we are just going to relax, get some food, and go to bed early!
